You need to stand out from the crowd.
When interviewers ask you how good you are at something, they don’t want to know how good you are at something, they want to know what you have done, relevant to the job description, that demonstrates how good you are at something.
Let me give you an example: please answer the following question before reading further. “How good is your attention to detail?”
Your instinctive answer to this question was probably along the lines of ‘good’, ‘very good’ or ‘excellent.’ Perhaps you used a couple of sentences or different words but probably you gave this same answer as nearly everyone else. So what makes you different from the pack? What’s going to make you stand out from the crowd?
Learn to answer a closed question with an open answer. You will have extensively researched the company and studied the job description, so you will say, “Very good I believe, for example when I was with ABC Ltd, I blah blah blah,“ and you will relate an achievement that is relevant to the company and demonstrates the practical application of the knowledge or skill they are interested in.
