• Mental Health in the Workplace

Are you uncomfortable discussing mental health in the workplace with your employees?  Are your employees honest with you when mental health issues are the reason for their absence or their poor performance or behaviour?  Mental health still has a huge stigma but often people simply don’t know what to say or how their manager or colleagues will react if they mention the M word.  Yet mental health issues are said to account for 10% or more of all workplace absences.  Very few employers have a workable mental health policy in place and even fewer offer guidance and training for managers tackling this issue.

Line managers have a pivotal role to play in managing all health and sickness issues but, if they are afraid to tackle mental health issues, how can they do this?  We offer specific training for managers on both managing and supporting employees with mental ill health problems.  Our course raises awareness and understanding, including making adjustments for employees returning to work after disclosing mental ill health.
