I truly believe that investing in management training will change how the workforce behaves. Why? Managers deal with their teams on the ground. They build relationships, delegate to them, listen to their issues, understand their strengths etc. All of this information is crucially valuable to HR and it means we can use this data to inform strategies that will seek to retain and further engage employees.
But all of it falls to dust if managers are not on board with the objectives. That’s why putting managers through management training will build the dedication we need for employee strategies introduced to the business.
Also, managers are the number one reason people leave their jobs. It doesn’t mean the managers are “doing something wrong”. It means that a managers job is hard. Dealing with a team of people, all of whom have different needs is an insanely difficult responsibility.
