Most employers think sex discrimination is obvious;A sexist comment.
A demotion after maternity.
A pay gap no one can explain.
📌 According to the Ministry of Justice, sex discrimination cases rose by
48% last year-
And that because most ‘acts of discrimination’ were indirect, subtle, or process-based -
NOT the dramatic headline stuff.
I ran my GED for this client, and here’s what I found;↳ Manager assumptions about flexible working
↳ A missed promotion for someone on parental leave
↳ Performance reviews skewed by inconsistent expectations
You won’t see these in your policies.
You’ll see them in your culture.
A particular matter was of a woman in a mid-level role who returned from maternity.
She was quietly excluded from client meetings “to make things easier.”
Her manager assumed she’d want to ease back in.
She didn’t.
She wanted fairness - not fragility.The damage was done before anyone realised.
Her case didn’t go to court -
but the resignation, grievance, and internal unrest cost the business far more than a legal bill.
