This week I've read a lot of posts about how people have struggled when the vision of what they expected in the future was changed by reality. How difficult it was accepting that reality and letting go of their dream. How once they did accept their reality their anguish lifted and they could see the good things around them again.
But letting go is not an easy process. It is hard to believe what you longed for, worked for, or trusted in is never going to happen. As well as disappointed you can feel angry, hurt, rejected and a failure.
But do you really want to be in that dark place ?
In order to let go
Accept how you feel. Name the emotion out loudly. Cry, scream, talk to a friend, journal. Whatever you need to do to accept those feelings. Fully accepting the situation means that you no longer feel that you want things to be different.
Consider how you really want to be and feel and what your first little step is to move forward and do it. Have a picture of how you will look and feel in your mind
As soon as you recognise that you are going down the path of unhealthy rumination then bring to mind the picture of how you want to look and feel
Forgive yourself and anyone else involved. Stop waiting for that apology or understanding of your position. As long as you want that then they have a control over you
Look around at all the positive things in your life and hold onto them and appreciate them. Turn those glimmers into glows
Be kind to yourself. Look after your health. Take time out to have a pamper or do something that feeds your soul.
Letting go is not easy. Meditation, breathwork and EFT can help you get back to a place of contentment.
