10 Reasons to use an Architect

As an architect, I will guide you through the design and construction process, helping you to visualize the potentials of your project from as many conversations as you feel are needed.  My aim is to make your life as easy as possible! For all the projects I take on, I ensure to add a personal touch and I maintain the same enthusiasm and passion for each project.

Here are some reasons why you may want to use an architect for your project:

  1. Talk to an architect for advice before you get going. I can help you get the best out of your project in the early stages, regardless of size and whether you need me at a later stage.
  2. The first consultation if often free. My first consultation is free without any obligations.
  3. Fee is often more reasonable than you think. You can engage an architect for just parts of the job and, as your project develops, use further services along the way. The architect’s fee is just a very small percentage of the overall construction & design budget and can give you considerable cost savings in the long run.
  4. The project doesn’t have to be large. I can provide you with multiple design options if the layout of your house no longer works for you. I can also help you with smaller projects such as renovations, loft conversions, extensions and kitchen and bathroom alterations.
  5. Do you need a full planning application? I can assist you with deciding if you need a full planning application or if an alternative route is best for your project.
  6. An architect can help you manage your budget.  I can help you keeping control of the total costs for your build by putting a comprehensive set of drawings and specifications together. This will make it the easier for a builder to put an accurate quote together.
  7. An architect can assist you in finding the right building contract. I can help you in finding the right building contract when you have selected your builder. This can safe guard you against possible problems later on.
  8. An architect can assure your build meets the requirements of building control. I will advise if you need any other services such as an structural engineer and building control officer.
  9. An architect can help you manage your build. I can carry out regular inspections, deal with queries, instruct any additional work required, monitor progress on site, keep track of cost, value works and certify payments due to the builder.
  10. Any UK architect is registered by the ARB (Architecture Registration Board). They must have appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance. They also must conduct themselves in a manner appropriate following the ARB Code of Practice.
