Out of the145,000 business building fires in 2021 it was found that 13% of alarms failed to operate. Out of the 22,000 dwelling fires a shocking 43% (9,300) did not have smoke alarms at all.
With buildings now being either empty or only used on some days, keeping a building and staff safe and secure from Fire is even more important, with potentially no one on site, you are dependent on your Fire Alarm and detectors (if you have any).
Fires are often caused by carelessness, lack of knowledge and training or faulty equipment, and in most cases could be prevented. It’s for this reason that businesses should put in place systems and measures to prevent or reduce the risk of fire, as well as procedures and fire safety equipment for real fires. This reduces the risk of fire by up to 70%
Fires cost the country around £8 billion per year and it is estimated that 60% of private businesses never recover from a fire.
