Leading Dutch, commercial vehicle manufacturer DAF Trucks, recently selected Urban Fabric Events to organise and host a series of visits to the North West of England this year.
The independent travel and events company has been commissioned by Dusseldorf travel company, Congress Incentive to provide a programme of events, incorporating a full technical tour of DAF Trucks at Leyland in Lancashire, whilst also providing an introduction to modern day Manchester, its industrial heritage and contribution to world trade and Industry.
John Harding, Urban Fabric Events’, Director of Sales & Development, said: “We’re excited to be working with DAF Trucks Germany and had fun implementing their first, three-day visit. It was our objective to show them, the history of Manchester, which worked fantastically well, since it is the birthplace of modern transport logistics.”
The group comprised of 20 high-profile VIP truck dealers, each invited from individual major cities across Germany.
Highlights of the programme included, a visit to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland, followed by a Tudor banquet with traditional music, a bagpiper and whiskey tasting at Lancashire’s historic Hoghton Tower.
A guided, German speaking tour encompassing Castlefield and the first railway station in the world, a heritage canal cruise along Bridgewater canal together with English afternoon tea and Eccles cakes followed by an introduction to real ale and the famous ‘Manchester egg’ at the renowned, riverside Mark Addy pub.
The next visits are scheduled for the summer 2012 and will comprise of a further group of VIP guests followed by additional visits in 2013.
