When you visit a shop to buy a car tyre for yourself, you will be presented with various options. But before you make a choice, you need to understand the underlying differences between these tyres. By doing so, you can make an informed decision and find yourself a perfect car tyre.

Summer Tyres

Summer tyres are often referred to as regular tyres. They are made of soft rubber compounds, and some fillers are added to them, such as silica and carbon black. This makes the summer tyres tough and prevents deformities in them. Goodyear Tyres Rotherham is designed with a special tread pattern, which increases its traction and allows it to maintain a steady grip on the road. These tyres will provide you with high-level performance and enhance your driving experience.

You can use them in summer on dry or wet roads. However, you should not use summer tyres in places where the temperature is below 7 degrees celsius because their rubber compounds are not designed to sustain such temperatures. In colder places, summer tyres get hardened and get a high amount of tread wear on them.

Winter Tyres

These tyres are suitable for cold climates. Winter tyres provide better grip on snowy or icy roads because the tread pattern of these tyres are designed with lots of grooves and sipes.

Moreover, these grooves in the tread of the tyre help them in displacing water on the road and prevent aquaplaning.

All-season Tyres

If you do not want to replace your car tyres every season, you must opt for all-season tyres. These tyres are suitable for moderate climatic conditions. Furthermore, they will give you an adequate level of performance on both wet and dry roads.

The tread patterns of these tyres are quite sufficient to run on moderate road conditions and do not wear off quickly. However, all-season tyres should not be used in extreme climatic conditions.

Run Flat Tyres

If you have been travelling to a place where your tyres are getting frequently punctured, you would need a car tyre that can sustain such damages. Run-flat tyres are one such type of car tyre that can run even after they get punctured. This will help you in reaching the nearest garage, where you can get your car tyres replaced.

However, there is a major setback in these car tyres. Run-flat tyres cannot be used after they have travelled their threshold distance after getting punctured. This is because travelling on a puncture destroys the internal construction of run-flat tyres, which enables it to sustain tyre puncture for some time.

Performance Tyres

Performance tyres are majorly used by professional car racers. These tyres are mounted on high-speed vehicles because the rubber compound of these tyres enables them to travel smoothly at high speeds without causing any serious damage. Performance Tyres are also used by common people, as they allow them a comfortable ride on bumpy roads because of their flexible rubber.

4x4 Tyres

Rough terrain can do serious damage to your regular car tyre. So you need to be equipped with car tyres that can run easily on these types of roads. These types of tyres are primarily used on hilly roads, which have a lot of sharp stones and potholes on them. 4x4 tyres have strong sidewalls, which impart strength to them. Moreover, these tyres also have huge blocks, which enables them to displace obstacles on the road. 4x4 tyres have several types, which are as follows -

  • Mud Tyres - These tyres are most suitable for marshes, where car tyres may get stuck on the sticky.
  • Sand Tyres - Car tyres find it hard to maintain a steady grip on sandy roads. Sand tyres can be used in such conditions as treads of these tyres are well equipped to run on sand.

So these were the different types of car tyres that are available in the market. And if you want to get any one of them, you can Buy Tyres Rotherham from AP Tyres.
