Business Owners - Stop Paying More Tax Than You Have To

Business Owners - Stop Paying More Tax Than You…

Here's something most business owners don't realise: if you're a limited company director, your company can pay directly into your pension as a business expense — reducing your Corporation Tax bill in the process. That means every £10,000 contributed could save £2,500 in tax immediately, before a single penny of investment growth. Compare that to taking the same money as salary or dividends, where it gets eroded by income tax and National Insurance along the way, and the pension starts to look less like a sacrifice and more like a no-brainer.

Beyond the tax savings, there's a more personal reason to get started: your business shouldn't be your only retirement plan. It might be worth a great deal one day — or circumstances might make it difficult to sell. A pension sits completely outside the business, protected from its ups and downs, quietly compounding year after year. Think of it as paying your future self first. The earlier you start, the less effort it takes to end up somewhere really comfortable — and with an annual allowance of up to £60,000, there's plenty of room to make meaningful progress without disrupting your day-to-day cashflow.

If you have any questions at all on how pensions can benefit you, or if you don't know where to get started, please don't hesitate to reach out.
