Background One of the most illustrious events in golf, the 2012 Scottish Open Golf Championship was held at Castle Stuart Links near Inverness. As this was their second time hosting the event, one of their biggest considerations was upgrading the communications network at the course. As the World’s media and some of the game’s greatest players would all be in attendance, it was vital that they had a solution which could withstand a high level of usage. Summary Taking into account the needs of the staff, media, players, fans, and the location, NetDatatel were commissioned by Barclays Bank (sponsors of the Championship) to implement a robust and flexible solution which provided the backbone for the tournament’s communications infrastructure. This solution spanned everything from fast Ethernet access to audio visual equipment for the press conferences and helping this auspicious sporting event to run as smoothly as possible. Testimonial “There was a lot of competition across the UK to secure this contract. That Castle Stuart had the confidence to award it to NetDatatel, is good for us, good for the Highlands and good for Scotland. ” Extract from the Northern Scot 12th April 2012
