Summary

A Private Equity and Venture Capital professional with 25 years experience. Having “cut his teeth” in the emerging Australian Private Equity market of the mid 1980’s, Andy returned to the UK in 1992 since when he has become a well regarded and established participant in the North West market.
Initially, Andy spent almost 10 years with 3i in Manchester, when it was the dominant regional investor that understood the value of deep and enduring regional networks and relationships. During this period his role encompassed the full range of investment – from deal origination to appraisal, negotiation and execution and then to investment management and exit. Amongst his most high profile investments were the initial growth capital investment into the emerging Pets at Home and the MBO of Arm Utility Services, later to become Enterprise plc.
Andy then joined Montagu Private Equity, to head up Montagu Capital, a new business it created with a UK-wide mandate to target the sub £50m transaction. Andy returned to the North West in 2004 with LDC in Manchester, where he assumed a role as Portfolio Director, sitting on investee company Boards and working with management teams to deliver and realise shareholder value.
In 2010, Andy was recruited by North West Business Finance as CEO to complete the establishment of The North West Fund, appoint its six Fund Managers and establish its operations. With The North West Fund now established and open for business, Andy is delighted that it will be making such a significant contribution to the region’s economy and prosperity at a critical time.
