Creative Ways Your Business Can Utilise Lanyards

One common sight in almost any business these days is the lanyards that adorn people’s necks. They are given to employees, visitors and customers and have a wide variety of uses that businesses and organisations are now starting to latch onto and capitalise on. Whilst they were once thought to be something that simply carried a name badge, lanyards are now vital and versatile tools for many.

In this article, We Print Lanyards will blast apart the common conception of what a lanyard should be and show you some of the imaginative and creative ways in which they can be used.

What is a lanyard?

Lanyards are soft straps that are usually worn around the neck with the purpose of carrying something useful. They are often colourful and can be personalised to include your business logo and colours and can ensure that anything from an identity card to a torch or a set of keys is always close by. Whilst their use has not varied much over the years, they are now starting to become more essential parts of businesses and people discover new and exciting ways that they can be used.

Goody bags

If your business is involved in an event, then you might want to offer a lanyard for inclusion in any goody bags that might be given away. Whether it is a conference, exhibition, concert or sporting event, your custom lanyard is a great way to show off your branding and provide some practical use at the same time. Try including an attachment that people might not have thought of before, like a flash drive or something that could be useful at the event to encourage people to start wearing them.

You could customise your lanyard even more than normal by adding something in keeping with the event. It could be additional artwork, beads, badges or even keyrings to make it a more exciting offering and something that people will want to wear both at the event and afterwards.

Phone charms

There is a big trend at the moment to attach short cords or strings of beads to a mobile phone to help carry it, attach it to the inside of a bag, or just make it look pretty, and your lanyard could be a part of this. Make sure that they are eye-catching and still incorporate your branding so that people will continue to use them as something that is stylish and serves a purpose.

Sponsorship opportunities

When you are trying to sell sponsorship opportunities for an event, you will want to maximise all avenues in order to raise funds. Your lanyards can be a great place to showcase sponsors either as an individual item or as part of a larger package. The fact that lanyards can be customised so easily means that you can adapt the design to fit their logo, web address and strapline as well as ensuring that they are made in the correct brand colours. It can be a very successful way to promote a business, and your sponsors will love seeing their brand being worn around everybody’s necks.

Key chains

Lanyards are used to carry useful things that we might easily misplace, and keys are probably the things that people lose most often. Turn your customised lanyard into a keychain and include them as gifts, put them into swag bags or hand them out at events.

Photo booth props

Many events now feature a photo booth to allow people to capture memories in a fun and silly way. They will often include costumes, cardboard captions and even fake moustaches that people can use in front of the camera to create a unique snap. This can be a great place to put a few lanyards as part of the dressing process. They can take the form of medals, necklaces or even headpieces, just make sure that whatever you print on them is big enough to be seen on the pictures.

Zipper pulls

We tend to think of lanyards as being quite long, but if you shrink them down, they can make excellent zipper pulls. These can easily be added to coats, hoodies or bags and once people have done so, they will often leave them there for a long time. Make sure that they are well designed and include some company details so that people will know where to find you.

Bookmarks

It’s easy to think of lanyards as items that hang, but there is no reason why they can’t have other uses too. Their durability makes them perfect for something that will be used a lot, and so they can be great bookmarks, suitable for any sized book! It’s a great reminder of your business and a conversation starter too.

Medals

A lanyard is something that is hung around the neck, and so is a medal, so there is no reason why the two cannot be interchangeable. Whether you are involved in a sporting event or want to hand out employee awards or humorous accolades, your lanyards can be the perfect thing to hold the medals. As they are something that has been earned, they are more likely to be worn for a long time and kept as a souvenir.

VIP

A VIP is someone who is given special treatment, and can gain exclusive access to things, and so they are generally happy for other people to know about their Very Important status. Lanyards are often used for VIP attendees at all sorts of events, as they need to be easily recognisable for security purposes and can easily carry any access documents or cards. Adding your branding to these VIP passes can not only help to promote your business, but also have it associated with something aspirational.

Lanyards can now serve a huge number of purposes whilst still working hard to promote your business. With just a little sprinkle of creativity, there are vast numbers of ways that they can be used, the only limits will be your imagination.
