Are women reinforcing the very gender biases we’re fighting against?

I watched a video this week where a woman states that;

↳ Married women with children are more anxious.
↳ Women in long-term relationships have more depression.
↳ Women deserve more workplace empathy because we’re drowning.

And while I don’t deny that this is the reality for many -

I’m tired of seeing women’s value presented only through the lens of pain.

We can’t demand gender equity by saying:

“We’re struggling - hire us anyway.”

We need to start saying:

“We’re thriving - and here’s how we lead.”

Because if every narrative about women is rooted in trauma, fatigue, or dysfunction...

then why would leaders feel confident giving us opportunities?

And I say this as someone who’s been through it.

I had a miscarriage.

My boss bullied me during it.

And still - I don’t believe we win this fight by only telling the stories of harm.

We win by telling the stories of strength.

The value we bring.

What our experiences taught us.

When I became a mother, my risk perception sharpened.

My time awareness improved.

My emotional intelligence deepened.

I started to notice the hidden gender equity gaps in companies , triggering tribunal claims and a hit to reputation.

Those are the stories that paint a true picture of woman at work.

Lets consider another angle-

We know there is an increasing number of men who suffer from depression and axiety too.

Where's their recognition and support?

Denying it exists might help them get to the top.

But opens doors for sex discrimination once they're there.

So instead of pushing narratives rooted in pity

what if we led with power?

Because equity doesn’t come from tokenism.

It comes from evidence.

And we’ve got plenty.

Are women unintentionally feeding the very biases we’re trying to dismantle?
