❄️ Did You Know? Not Every Lump, Bump or Verruca Needs to Be "Put Up With"
One of the most common things I hear in clinic is:
"I've had it for years, I just thought I'd have to live with it."
Whether it's a painful verruca on the foot, a skin tag catching on clothing, or an age spot that's become more noticeable over time, many people simply assume there are no treatment options available.
As a Foot Health Practitioner, I regularly see the impact that verrucae can have. What starts as a small lesion can become painful, affect walking, exercise and even confidence.
Verrucae are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and often thrive in warm, moist environments. Whilst some resolve naturally, others can persist for years and become increasingly uncomfortable.
Interestingly, cryotherapy has been used in healthcare for many years to treat a variety of benign skin lesions. The principle is simple – controlled freezing destroys unwanted tissue, allowing healthy skin to replace it over time.
This is one of the reasons I have recently introduced CryoPen Cryotherapy to Prima Medica.
CryoPen can be used for a range of benign lesions including:
❄️ Verrucae
❄️ Common warts
❄️ Skin tags
❄️ Cherry angiomas
❄️ Seborrhoeic keratoses
❄️ Some age and sun spots
What I particularly like is that it offers a precise treatment option following a clinical assessment, helping patients who may have been struggling with a lesion for months or even years.
As healthcare professionals, we're often encouraged to focus on the big things, but sometimes it's the small things—a painful verruca, a lesion that catches on clothing, or a skin tag affecting confidence—that can make a real difference to someone's quality of life.
What common health problem do you find people often just "put up with" when help is actually available?
