The daily rhythms of life

The daily rhythms of life

There are many rhythms in life from the totality of we are born, we live and then we die to the micro actions that we perform without thought - I breath in, reoxygenate by blood stream, discharge carbon dioxide and then breath out.

Until I wrote that sentence, I was completely unaware of that rhythms and now I am very aware of breathing, just for a few moments until I forget to remember to do it again!

Here are a few things that go into a typical day and provide the rhythm of life and the balance will change from day to day;

  • Sleep
  • R&R
  • Action
  • Refuelling
  • Growth
  • Planning
  • Relationships
Sleep

- I need to have a good sleep and I generally do this at night…

R&R - Rest & relaxation are good and different from sleep. They allow us to recharge after activity, but need to be kept in balance for a healthy life

Action - This could be our work or some other activity that we use our bodies for

Refuelling - Food!!! Never far from my heart :)

Growth - Taking time to find new things to learn and putting them into practice in our lives

Planning - Are you a drifter or a planning? I'm a little of both which I think we all are? Do we have a plan for the day, week, year our life?

Relationships - I put this last on purpose, but perhaps it's the most important one? Being in relationships with others is a requirement for our emotional security

How I use my time, which I can only use once, in the rhythms I create in my life will lead to the person I will become. I don't want to look back at the end of my life and think why did I spend so much time on things that had so little value and not on the things that are closest to my heart.

Call to action - Look at how you are spending your time. Is it in balance with you values? Let me know how you get on.
