Should you 'go exclusive'?

Customer:         Is this how its’ supposed to work?

Me:                   Yes. I take your pain away, so you can get on with what you do best.

If you’ve worked with me you are probably aware why I step away when customers engage multiple recruiters.  I am of the opinion (and always will be) working with one quality recruiter on a brief is a. in your best interests and b. will save you from the energy sapping chaos and drama that inevitably surrounds multi-agency listings.

If you’re undecided as to whether multi-listing or ‘going exclusive’ is best, here are a few points to consider

  1. You are getting the recruiter’s full commitment to fulfil your brief. Let’s not beat around the bush. You may think you get more effort from a recruiter when we are competing with each other. Not true! What really happens is a short burst of activity and then interest wanes as we realise you are not committed. We put our energy and efforts in with customers that work with us as business partners and we in short, own and are accountable for solving the problem.

If recruitment was dating would you put all your efforts into the ‘player’?

  1. The focus is on quality not speed. Why would you base a key decision based on who can get candidates to you first?  ‘Exclusivity’ means the recruiter has time to do thorough work. Allow the recruiter to bring all their resources into play.  Not just a quick data-base search but a thorough search including networks, passive talent market, communities etc.

If recruitment was dating you would do a little research, ask a few questions wouldn’t you?

  1. You will save time by dealing with one competent recruiter. No multiple briefings and multiple contacts to deal with. No remembering who you’ve said what to…

If recruitment was dating…self explanatory I think?

  1. The shortlist is a shortlist. Compiled as a result of a thorough search, screening and assessment.  Multi listings only ever result in more cvs, more time, more pain, more frustration and inappropriate candidates.  I hear some horror stories!

If recruitment was dating, too much choice ends in no choice.

  1. Your business brand and image is preserved. Do you want your role touted around town by multiple recruiters, reeking of desperation? Your role is not devalued in the eyes of talent, who are always suspicious if the job is represented by multiple recruiters.

If recruitment was like dating……

There are definite advantages to ‘going exclusive’.

  • Exclusive Hire
  • Recruitment & Selection
  • Small business
  • relationships
