🔔 Major UK Immigration Changes from 22 July 2025: What Local Employers & HR Leaders Must Know
The UK government’s latest immigration reforms, effective 22 July 2025, will have a significant impact on recruitment, workforce planning, and compliance, particularly for businesses across the Uk
What’s changing?
• Sponsorship is now limited to degree-level (RQF 6) roles—around 180 occupations will no longer qualify.
• Salary thresholds for sponsored workers are rising across the board.
• Overseas care worker sponsorship ends (except for those already working legally in the UK).
• No more salary discounts or dependants for most shortage roles under the new Temporary Shortage List.
What does this mean for you?
Smaller talent pool for many roles—especially in care, skilled trades, logistics, and hospitality
More pressure on local recruitment and upskilling
The need to urgently review pay structures, job roles, and compliance with sponsor licence duties
My top tip:
Audit your current sponsored workforce now, update your recruitment plans, and make urgent applications before the July deadline.
