Cost Budgeting and Cost Management
One of the most important aspects of post-Jackson litigation is the procedure of costs management. We have been involved in costs management since the scheme was first piloted. We therefore have substantial experience in this area.
Preparing costs budgets
Unlike many firms of costs draftsmen, all of our budgets are bespoke: we do not rely on pro forma budgets or a bank of ‘benchmark’ figures. This ensures that the budgets we prepare are based on the facts of each individual case and are reflective of the actual work expected to be done.
WIP Analysis
Exceeding the amount specified in a Costs Management Order can have disastrous consequences. We can undertake audits of your work in progress to ensure that you have not exceeded the costs allowed in each phase of the budget. If you have exceeded the allowable costs, we can advise you on any remedial steps which you might need to take.
Attendance at CCMCs
We provide advocates to attend Costs and Case Management Conferences to defend or challenge costs budgets. Our attendance can be either as:
•Primary advocate, dealing with directions as well as costs issues
•Costs advocate, dealing only with costs issues whilst another advocate deals with case management issues
•Support, where we sit behind another advocate and provide guidance when requested
In-house costing
We know that budgets are often prepared at a time in the litigation when you need access to your file of papers. This is why our costs draftsmen and costs lawyers are able to attend your offices in order to prepare budgets in-house.
Improve your firm's cash-flow with our innovative costs advance funding scheme, which is offered in partnership with Novitas Loans. No personal guarantees are required and money is released within 48 hours of request
