I provide political risk consultancy for businesses working in, or dependent on supply chains, in emerging markets. This follows a 22 year career in government service, principally focused on defence, security and international affairs. Expanding into international markets has never been easier but in a time of global instability the risk of being caught out by politics when expanding a business internationally grows ever more likely. Political disturbances have the potential to reverberate across the business environment internationally and locally as well as disrupting global markets, often catching businesses unaware. Strategies for managing such political risks are thus essential to allow businesses to best exploit opportunities, protect competitive value and sidestep surprises.
