Summary
I am a qualified European patent attorney with experience of working in-house and in private practice.
I entered the profession in 2008 working in-house for Tata Steel in the Netherlands, largely specialising in the fields of polymers chemistry, graphene manufacture, electrochemical devices and coated products. This enabled me to see first-hand the importance of IP and the role it can play in a global organisation. It also allowed me to gain an insight and appreciation of the challenges and pressures faced by such organisations when commercialising and defending their IP.
Since joining Wilson Gunn in 2014, I have advised a variety of clients ranging from multi-national companies through to small businesses in a diverse range of technologies, including food chemistry, textiles and mechanical inventions.
I have particular expertise in patent drafting and patent prosecution before the UK Intellectual Property Office, the European Patent Office and in other overseas jurisdictions. I also advise on patent oppositions and on issues of patent infringement.
Prior to joining the patent profession, I gained a Master’s degree in Chemistry and a PhD from the University of Sheffield for research centred on the synthesis and immobilisation of PAMAM dendrons for catalytic and protein binding applications.
My time is split between Wilson Gunn’s offices in Liverpool and Manchester.
