Summary
Nicholas has over 25 years’ experience in the Financial Markets Sector following his graduation in 1990 from Queens' College, Cambridge with a Degree in Mathematics.
In 1995 he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse (now PwC), following which he joined Ernst & Young (now EY) as a Management Consultant, specialising in emerging markets banking sectors where his clients were ministries of finance and commercial financial firms, as well as a major utility privatisation.
Nicholas then moved to ING Barings where he had a successful position in Investment Banking before he decided that a career in teaching Financial Markets would be as much fun as working in them.
From 2001 to 2006 he taught Financial Markets and CFA® Program courses for Kaplan and it was towards the end of this time that Nicholas identified an opportunity in the market for providing an inspirational educational environment in which candidates would gain an intuitive understanding of finance.
With this philosophy in mind, Nicholas set up Quartic Training in 2006. Every year, he writes world-class training materials to supplement CFA Institute’s syllabuses to make the transference of knowledge easier and that provide long-term practical application in the workplace.
As Chief Executive, he is proud to have built a business founded on quality of tuition and excellence of client service.
Outside work Nicholas is treasurer of an investment partnership, successfully disproving theories of market efficiency. His guru is Warren Buffett, who is on a distant corner of Nicholas' family tree.
