White Young Green (WYG) Environmental
EMS Consultant
100+ Employees 2007 - 2008I worked on a number of environmental management and waste projects which included: EMDA Project- Delivering a project that helped 50 SMEs in the East Midlands to implement environmental management systems. The systems were implemented using the BS 8555 route and helped the businesses to improve their waste practices, energy efficiency and achieve significant cost savings. BREW Project- Working on the delivery, materials development, training and auditing for sector specific programmes. The work was designed to help businesses in the ceramics, glass and glazing, shipbuilding, construction and catering equipment sectors to implement environmental management systems. The programme was supported by the relevant trade associations and took companies through to the phased BS 8555 approach to Phase 5; many of those taking part continued on to achieve ISO 14001 certification. SOGE Projects- Working with the Tribunals Service to help them to achieve the Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate (SOGE) targets. The work included general environmental training for staff and the development of monitoring tools to enable the departments to track their energy, water, transport use and biodiversity. SEEDA HTA Project- Working on the delivery of a waste project on behalf of the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA). The aim was to minimise horticultural waste through promoting a reduction in unnecessary packaging and close ‘the loop’ which existed between packaging producers and growers, growers and sellers, and sellers and end users. The work included on-site waste audits for several nurseries and garden centres and the formulation of a regional strategy for tackling horticultural waste.
