I am still here, over four years now and manager of the department for Search Engine Marketing, and still loving what I do for a living.
Interests and Hobbies
First and foremost my primary passion is online marketing. I first picked up the bug about 11 years ago working with a friend offering Pay-Per-Click to clients via a company that was then called Overture (who eventually was bought out by Yahoo and is now called Yahoo Search Marketing). I was practising web design at the time but I was more curious about how a website ranked in the search engines. I thought, 'if you can pay for a click then how do those other results get there?'. It was then that I was introduced to Search Engine Optimisation which has been a subject that has always interested me and has shaped my life over the last decade. This eventually led to where I am now, working for an IT company in Wigan Town Centre as an online marketing manager.
What I love the most about online marketing is knowing that the job I am doing is shaping the lives of others. If I succeed then it keeps people in jobs, it helps to grow a company and I am helping to shape the lives of others. It is a satisfying feeling knowing that I am the one responsible and who companies then come to trust in my knowledge.
