Principal areas of focus included the appraisal of waste treatment technologies, waste derived biomass fuels and associated supply chains.

    My analysis and advice would be used to serve either strategic direction or assist specific unit interests, exploiting or mitigating issues from the emerging low carbon market. Examples include, but are not limited by GQCHP, RO, RHI and Carbon Price Support.

    A publically funded programme offering subsidised technical & commercial consultancy, including project feasibility, feedstocks, planning, grid connection and financial support. For three years, I supported both public and private sector bridging market failures to deliver low carbon infrastructure and supply chains.

    My role was to lead on the regions development of industrial heat recovery, district heating, biomass supply chains the growth of energy service companies (ESCO’s), some specific examples of work are described below.

    Delivered a successful and robust framework for local authorities to develop and deploy their own low carbon solutions, resulting in Leeds City Council’s adoption and championing national policy change.

    A project commissioned by Yorkshire's Waste Authorities, I led a small team to deliver a regional business plan for developing the solid recovered fuel market, receiving high praise from DEFRA and strong interest from the Secretary of State.

    Responsible for improving the site's energy efficiency and energy and carbon management, reporting to the site board on energy/carbon performance and energy savings opportunities.

    Designed and introduced SMART monitoring systems for primary and secondary energy activities, developing unique budget cost centres, KPI measures and devolved responsibilities for change.
    Initiated a change programme, introducing energy accountability for key department heads, resulting in tighter controls over major energy users, positively impacting on their £5 million energy spend.
